Tall, statuesque and very Greek-Canadian, TV entertainer Christina Laia-Vlahos has made a name for herself with the cooking show Star Foodies and in the fourth season is going on the road to Cyprus to show off food and local talent.
The half-hour travel, entertainment, and cooking show, features host and creator Vlahos interviewing celebrities about lifestyle and food – her favorite subjects, she told The Toronto Sun and boy, is she ever suited for it.
She travels to meet celebrities and bring back to Canada a personal recipe to be reproduced by Canadian chefs and in the first season headed straight to the food-buzzing Athens to show off Greek cuisine.
Vlahos was born in Toronto to a Greek-Canadian family and said as a young woman she dreamed of doing exactly what she is. Maybe she could skip Delphi.
Part of her shtick is to talk to locals where she visits about their recipes too and what it’s like living where they do, and from Cyprus she will be recreating a special snail dish, cabbage rolls, and a variety of the island’s desserts.
