Coronavirus deaths spike to 30 as intubations rise to 296; distribution of 3,625 cases



After more than two months Covid-related deaths spiked to 30 in the last 24 hours as the number of intubated patients keeps increasing the the last few weeks. Greece’s health authorities announced on Friday 3,625 new coronavirus cases. The number of intubated Covid-patients in hospitals Intensive Care Units increased further to 296.


The number of regional units with infections in 3-digits increased to nine.


As the schools reopen in some three weeks and holidaymakers return to their homes, health experts appeal to citizens to get vaccination against Covid-19 and to get tested upon return from summer vacations.

Since the pandemic began, Greece has confirmed 554,055 infections (daily change: +0.7%). In the confirmed cases of the last 7 days, 129 infections are related to travel abroad and 1578 to other confirmed cases.

51.2% of the infected are men.

There are 30 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, the total of pandemic victims to 13,328. Of these, 95.1% had an underlying condition and/or were 70 years old.


Light blue: intubations pink: deaths


A total of 296 Covid-patients – from 286 a day earlier – are on ventilators in hospitals. Their median age is 64 years. 61.1% are men. 83.4% have an underlying condition and/or are aged 70 or more.

According to EODY, intubated Covid-patients based on age group are:

  • 0-17 1

  • 18-39: 13

  • 40-64: 140

  • 65+ : 142

2,904 patients have been discharged from ICUs since the pandemic began.

267 Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospital in the last 24 hours (daily change: -3.26%). The average admission of patients with Covid-19 to hospitals over the last 7 days was 253.

The median age of new infections is 40 years (range: 0.2 to 106 years), while the median age of the deceased is 78 (range: 0.2 to 106 years).

Of the 3625 new cases, 16 were detected at the entrance gates of the country and 5 among travelers already in the country.
