Foreign Minister Nicos ChristodoulidesCyprus Foreign Minister Nikos Christodoulides visits Israel on Sunday for a trilateral meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Cyprus, Greece and Israel.
Their agenda includes ways to enhance regional cooperation, cooperation on health issues in view of the Covid-19 pandemic, and cooperation in responding to emergency situations such as wildfires, in view of the fires that broke out in the three countries recently, CNA has learnt.
This is the first ministerial trilateral meeting between Cyprus, Greece and Israel taking place after the new Israeli government, under Naftali Bennett, took over, and will prepare a High-Level trilateral meeting expected to take place in Cyprus by the end of the year. The previous Foreign Ministers’ trilateral meeting took place in Greece in October 2020.
Christodoulides, Nikos Dendias and Yair Lapid will discuss how to enhance regional cooperation, the trilateral cooperation among Cyprus, Greece and Israel, the follow up as regards the three countries’ cooperation with the United Arab Emirates after the meeting which the Foreign Ministers of the four countries had last April in Paphos, the scheme of cooperation of the trilateral mechanism established among Cyprus, Greece and Israel with the USA (3+1) and developments in the broader Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East region.
They will also exchange views on cooperation among the three countries on health issues and cooperation for response to emergency situations, as wildfires.
Christodoulides will also meet the Ministers of Defence and Regional Cooperation of Israel, Benny Gantz and Issawi Frej, with whom he will discuss issues of bilateral cooperation.
Cyprus Foreign Minister paid a working visit to Israel on July 26 and 27 at the invitation of his Israeli counterpart.
