Μigration and Asylum Minister Notis Mitarachi on Monday met French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin in Paris.
According to the Greek asylum ministry's announcement, the meeting was held at Darmanin's invitation in the context of the French EU presidency in the first six months of 2022.
The issues discussed were the management of migration, protection of the borders and the deliberations over the new European Migration and Asylum Pact.
"Greece has two specific targets," Mitarachi said after the end of the talks with the French minister. "Firstly we want action that will limit the flows to the EU and secondly a strong solidarity that will support the first reception countries. We await the French Presidency's proposals," he underlined.
"What we said today in Paris is that the new Pact should never again generate pressure on the Greek islands and borders. The relocations must be very swift under the new Pact.
