Russian churches to pray for Greece facing wildfires on Saturday

A prayer for Greece, which is facing huge fires, will be offered in churches of several cities of Russia on Saturday (August 14), the Russian Embassy in Athens said on social media on Friday.

In its post, the embassy said, "This is spiritual and practical solidarity with the Greek people, with whom we have thousand-year-old ties and several struggles side by side!"

Cities where the prayer will be held include Moscow, Sochi, Novorossiysk, Krasnodar, Gelendzhik, Rostov-on-Don and others.

(Russia has sent water-bombing aircraft to Greece, including a Beriev and two Ilyushins, which hold tons of water and have been instrumental in fighting wildfires that began on August 3.)
