President of North Macedonia Stevo Pendarovski is to pay his first official visit to Greece, at the invitation of the President of the Hellenic Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, on Tuesday, October 5 and Wednesday, October 6.
In particular, on the first day of his visit to Athens, Pendarovski will lay a wreath at the Monument of the Unknown Soldier at 10:30 and then go to the Presidential Mansion where an official welcoming ceremony will take place. A meeting with the President Katerina Sakellaropoulou is to follow.
After the end of the meeting of the two presidents, extended talks between the delegations of the two countries will be held at the Presidential Mansion.
A meeting between Pendarovski and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is scheduled for 12:00, at the Maximos Mansion.
In the evening, Sakellaropoulou will host an official dinner at the Presidential Mansion at 20:00, in honour of the President of North Macedonia and the delegation accompanying him.
In the framework of his visit to Athens, the president of North Macedonia will aso visit the Benaki Museum, where he is scheduled to see the archive of Konstantinos Doxiadis. He will meet with the US Ambassador to Greece, Geoffrey Pyatt.
During the visit, President Pendarovski will be accompanied by his wife, Elizabeta Gjorgievska, who will visit, as part of the programme, the National Gallery in Athens, accompanied by Culture Minister Lina Mendoni.
According to an announcement, "President Pendarovski's official visit to Greece is the first historic visit that will take place at the highest level between the two countries."
This visit is the first by a President of the Republic of North Macedonia to Greece since the country gained its independence in 1991.
